3.0 TDI Coolant Temperature Sensor. I've just bought my first A5, a 2008 3.0 TDI Quattro Sport Coupe and I love it (I love it more now that I worked out how to turn off the TMC alerts). However, I've come across a few problems which only became apparent in long drives and actually using it. The main one is that the coolant temperature gauge
Coolant leak issue. I recently purchased a 2013 Audi TDI 3.0L. I saw pool of liquid below it and determined it was antifreeze. I got a low level alarm on next start up to move up to garage. Once I popped the hood noticed coolant everywhere as it was thrown around by the belt and pulley's. I pressurized the system and nothing would leak.

The P0117 code stands for “Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor 1 Circuit Low”, which means your powertrain control module has detected a low voltage input from ETC sensor 1. A defective ETC sensor, air pockets in the coolant system, and other cooling system issues are some of the common causes of the P0117 code.
I have 90 cadillac deville 4.5L multi-port. Because of a bad replacement coolant sensor from autozone I cracked the block where it is located. It look like a thermostAt housing to me. I need to find out the sensor is screwed into. This part sits UN top of the intake manifold and looks like it might be some kind of aluminum.
KEN L. The sensor is located near the front of the engine on a coolant hose fitting. Here is a diagrams for both engines, (below) and a guide that will walk you through the steps of changing the coolant temperature sensor. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.
